Yikes, that's a pretty noisy signal, but I do understand. Starting with my time in Psycho Pass mafia, I've tried to be more active earlier on in general, which isn't natural for me since it's often a lot of really soft reads on little info. I generally become more involved as the game goes on, regardless of alignment. Also speaking of "noisy signals," I'm a hypocrite if I let this bother me... the same kind of reasoning bothered me about Lux in the last game.

I'm not going to let "me voting player X" be a tell for these games. When town wins or I flip, that will be the end of this. And as I said, I was going to vote ninfia as an activity vote, but was snaked and so switched to another quiet player.

Heh, it won't 100% prove townness, but I think it will be good enough to justify my choice of self-preservation. I don't want to discuss details in-thread until after it gets used or if I'm a vig candidate. Worst-case this phase, I'm NK'd and flip town, and we're essentially transformed into a D1 mislynch with an additional voting round. This isn't that bad of an outcome.

Given this, please let me know if you're a town that would like to volunteer.

@drandahl Just answer me this and I'll leave you alone for now. Will it be something visible in rollover, or are we going to end up on D2 with no evidence from the host and you or some other unconfirmed player going "Just take my word for it, something happened"?

Instead of a volunteer, who could easily be mafia, why don't we have a vote for the victim?

oh my god I almost walked the line I drew for myself and brought up stuff from other games into this one. This is difficult. And also probably pointless? Hell. Let's do it. As the guy who has been mafia with drandahl the past couple of games??? I think his behavior this game matches how he had been acting back then and... Yeah, I think he might be mafia.

I meant to check the thread again but I forgot what time rollover would happen and also lost track of time watching Desperate Housewives...... And now its 3am. wow. If I were online around rollover time I sure as heck would vote drandahl... Altho I guess anyone would lmao.

I think we're all generally willing to believe Sammie is town. If this is an ability that will benefit town, I'd rather you use it on Sammie (provided this doesn't hurt or hinder Sammie in any way)

Addressing what you bolded...

These small reputation-building moments are important.

Though in a pragmatic sense, it was better to wait a little ensuring a no-lynch and open myself up for discussion the following phase...

Otherwise I would have jumped in still late enough that I can't assume any town is listening and alert any dormant mafia that I might avoid a lynch on me.

I think that's a bad idea because it tells mafia who the target is and they can choose to target them (and then you go oh! but just have the doctor protect them, but then sammie is wide open to be sniped, or drandahl, or literally anyone else).

Basically: collectively calling out targets in thread is always a bad idea unless it's saying Protect/stun X.

Unless it's town-beneficial to know that before it happens (in which case, please press me farther), I'm going to let the action answer this itself.

Well it's different if I have many targets (plural) to chose from. Though I really get your point here, I'm cautious of this too unless it's an intentional town mechanism to test scumminess.

re: volunteering

Ehh, if multiple people volunteer then drandahl can pick from the crowd and no one but him will know ahead of time exactly who he's targeting.

The main thing is that nobody currently trusts him enough to volunteer.

I'm wiling to give him the benefit of the doubt for this phase since there's nothing we can do tonight to stop him anyway short of a vig kill, but it sure as hell better prove something to town come rollover because he's my prime lynch candidate for D2 as of right now. If it does do something town-y enough, then sure I'm willing to drop it.

@drandahl: One last question, or rather a reiteration of my previous question. Will we know your target after you're done acting? Like, not saying you're a gunsmith just using it as an example. Will it be like "alcasync received a gun" or will it be "someone received a gun" or will there be no message and alca will have to show up saying "hey guys i got a gun"?

I can't imagine a scenario where a mafia would last minute try to hammer a lynch on you unless they were willing to make themselves look even more scummy than you made yourself look at rollover.

Fine I volunteer as long as it doesn't effect my clothes shopping. Is still eyeing Dran's clothing.
