Oh do people who die re-die? Or...

I was gonna offer myself up for a lynch to clear myself but if we just die over and over again like Luxaria's greatest nightmare that doesn't really jive with me here. I guess Raie can't spec during the day and Sammie is dead so uh. Hm.

This is only half of my nightmare.

The actual nightmare is the reason why alignments are now obscured upon death and why the ratio is 9*:3*.

That said, these drawbacks are... intriguing. We don't really have a way to verify them (for example, Cure could merely be saying that she can't post). But. If they're real, intriguing.

Theory: When people revive, either they swap alignments, or someone at random does, or mafia is re-assigned. Or some combination. Alignment information upon death is thus obscured.

Reason: If people kept reviving with the same alignments, mafia could never win. However, it can't just be a 1:1 flip, because if mafia resurrect as town, they know all the mafia and can then immediately out them. Thus, I think it is some mix of alignment flipping, obscuring, and mafia re-distribution. In other words, I think some players that started as town are now mafia, and some players that started as mafia are now town.

And we have no way of knowing?

It's just a theory. It may not be right. But it's my greatest nightmare and it's what I've been dreading for a while. This is influenced by some questions I've asked Kotakia, too.

Counter-point: Town drawbacks for reviving might be harsher than mafia drawbacks, such as dying again (Sammiya) and being unable to post during day phases (Cure). Alternatively, people that die and res might become neutral?? There's a lot of variations, and we have no real way of knowing, but I am willing to bet there's something crazy happening with alignment/faction distribution upon revive.

if Kiyoko wants to do this, it's fine by me because I don't really have much in the way of reads, being new here and not having played mafia at all in like a year

is there any reason for someone who changed alignments from mafia to town to not reveal that information? if it were me, at least, I'd say something pretty much immediately...

my thought was basically "what if cure is mafia now" but we can't do science on her, just Kiyoko whoops
