Well. It's 3am and I don't know why I'm awake. That said, this game isn't gonna move forward without some discussion. I can forgive the newbies since this is their first game, but.

@Alca, you haven't really posted anything of substance besides dropping a vote on Cthulumints, not explaining it, and then vanishing. I'm not asking you to claim, but a little bit more explanation might be nice.

@Cthulumints, hoping for something from you too, since you're the other living vet. Got any thoughts on alca voting you?

@Newbies, remember that you can vote: no vote and vote: no lynch. Voting no lynch isn't entirely recommended because no one dies and that just gives the mafia another chance to kill, but can be useful for when you don't think anyone on the chopping block is mafia. Also, if we have investigative roles, it gives the detective another chance at investigation.

It's true I've played before but I haven't much to say at the moment. I don't know the reason for the vote on me.

A player claiming to have a good role at the start of the game is a good example of wifom. In a hypothetical case where alcasync is town, the mafia are probably assessing whether or not the claim is genuine and whether or not it is possible that alcasync wants the mafia to target them.

In a hypothetical situation where alcasync is mafia, it is unusual for a mafia member to bring attention to them-self so early in a game. Which also makes it a possible mafia strategy since players don't expect a mafia member to be so forward.

At the moment I'm more inclined to think alcasync is town because calling attention to them-self at the beginning of the game is not something that most mafia want to do.

edit: On the matter of alcasync casting the first vote, It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it. I'd rather have early votes like that, than a bunch of votes right before rollover.

To be honest, I actually don't have a strong reason for voting Cthuluhoop, so it was kind of a reaction vote, but I didn't choose completely randomly. I wanted to vote for someone who wasn't a newbie because I don't really want to put pressure on the newbies this early, and because ummm... how do I explain this?

I know that it's completely random whether there's two newbies on the mafia or a newbie and a veteran player or two veteran players but like umm, I'd rather focus on the veteran players in the beginning so that we can clear stuff up about them as soon as possible, especially because it's probably going to be like me and Kiyoko and Cthuluhoop leading the discussion.

in any case, I was hoping that my fast vote might look like an investigation and then mafia would start pushing to see if it was for role-related reasons but no one really commented on that except for Kiyoko speculating that I probably wasn't a cop anyway um so...

I would be willing to change my vote but I don't have any better candidates right now, so for now it's staying on Cthuluhoop!

drandahl hasn't posted at all in the game so far, right? I would like to hear their thoughts too!

I don't really know anyone here yet at this point, and with all the setup and explanation, it's been hard to get a read on anyone. So I'm more or less on the same page as Alca, keeping my vote there till I have good reason to switch it.

That said, no offense to inactive players, but I'm really disinclined to kill off players that are actively in-thread and posting because I've been in too many games that basically died once all the talkative people were killed off, so that's my personal hangup there. So while this may not be the optimal way to play mafia, I don't particularly want alca or Cthulumints or even Jaiser offed because they've all been contributing to the discussion in a large way so far.

I really don't think alca is mafia, just putting that out there. Again. That said, I'm not willing to switch my vote to Cthulumints, especially since alca said it was a reaction vote,so.

Some thoughts:

Will have to admit, without much insight into each of your playstyles, I don't have much information for any solid line of reasoning on D0/D1. So please understand this is speculation so far:

Jaiser: I'm still confused by your reasoning so far. From what I can tell, you're just stirring the pot. I can justify this as you trying to generate discussion (as both new or veteran TOWN), trying to throw attention to an innocent (as new MAFIA), or trying to run some higher-level meta strategy to make people uncomfortable about voting for you or uncomfortable about voting in general (as veteran MAFIA)

If it's the last, I'll have to admit it's working for me so far. I am apprehensive to vote for you right now, since you could also just be a very vocal TOWN.

Kiyo: I haven't heard much interrogation in your direction, though I don't think there's much to go off of right now. Your reasoning so far measures up to the situation.

Mr. Alice: You're a new player, so it's understandable that you're quiet right now. That said, I also think if I were to throw my vote in any direction, this seems like the safest direction for now, given the utility of the veteran players' dialog so far. I'm not going to do that though, both on principal and from a general sense of relatability (since I am also a new player)

I'm sticking to no lynch for now; will reconsider after more discussion.
