It seems we are going with the tie method today

Possible ratios for day 2 assuming the mafia kill someone next night:

We vote no-lynch: 4:2.

We vote out a town: 3:2.

We vote out a mafioso: 4:1.

Voting out a mafioso is ideal but is difficult to do.

Mislynching or voting no-lynch leads to a LYLO/MYLO situation on day 2.

Voting no lynch isn't going to give us as much information as lynching someone. The merit of no-lynching is that we will have another person alive on day 2 (who is more likely to be town). Normally voting no-lynch because we don't have a lot of information yet iz acceptable, however there are no power roles so the only information we are getting is from the thread.

Having a spread out vote like this is better for the mafia than it is for the town, since it makes it easy for them to coordinate a mislynch. We can fix this by going with a clearer majority vote. Alternatively we could try to force a tie leaving fate to the RNG and if a mafioso tries to manipulate themselves out of the vote we'd see them doing so in the thread.

Do you think a three way tie would be better?

I'm hesitant to fully endorse the idea of a coordinated/planned tie just because mafia can slip in under the guise of cooperation, even more so in the event of town being the only ones on the chopping block. But I do like the increased chance of sweeping a mafia into the spotlight, which is why I brought it up in the first place. A tie due to organic voting is more interesting/beneficial than staging one, I think.

Hm, so right now we have a tie between drandahl and alcasync, and I'm one of the votes on drandahl. Other than alca, anyone I swap to just creates another soft tie. And with about 3 hours to go, I don't want to recreate the current situation just sit here and wait. Thus:
